Manufacturing

Trespa Meteon is a decorative high-pressure compact laminate (HPL) with an integral surface manufactured using Trespa’s unique in-house technologies, Electron Beam Curing (EBC) and Dry Forming (DF). The blend of up to 70% wood-based fibers and thermosetting resins, manufactured under high pressures and temperatures yields a highly stable, dense panel with good strength-to-weight ratio’s. This creates an engineered and rigorously fabricated panel product that delivers exceptional performance as it turns wood-based fibres and resins into a highly resistant, dimensionally stable building material.

Sheets consist of layers of wood-based fibres impregnated with thermosetting resins and surface layers of decorative colours on one or both sides. A transparent topcoat is added to the surface layers and cured by Trespa’s EBC to enhance weather and light protecting properties. These components are bonded together with simultaneous application of heat and high specific pressure to obtain a homogeneous non-porous material with increased density and integral decorative surface.

The resulting high-pressure laminate has a homogenous core, meaning the core is as durable as the face and is available in several thicknesses between 6mm and 13mm. Consistent and high density throughout, Trespa Meteon holds bolts, screws, and other mechanical fixings solidly.
